  2. NOTICE TO USERS CONCERNING VIRUSES; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

  5. A "virus" is a computer program which is deliberately engineered 
  6. to corrupt or hinder operation of a computer system. Such 
  7. malicious programs are occasionally written for unknown  purposes.
  8. The criminal codes of virtually all states specifically  prohibit
  9. the creation or distribution of malicious computer  programs. 
  10.  
  11. The Uncontaminated BBS examines all files prior to their posting
  12. for access  and download by use of the following methods:

  14. LOOK_IT.OVR 
  15.  
  16.  
  17. Although these methods are accepted within the experts in the 
  18. computer community, it is possible that despite the proper use of 
  19. the techniques described above that a program which contains 
  20. malicious code may escape detection. Users are encouraged to make 
  21. regular back ups and use such virus detection software as they 
  22. may feel is appropriate.

  24. Normally, programs are contributed by users. Accordingly, 
  25. programs are not "beta tested" and the description, which is 
  26. normally provided by the person contributing the file may be 
  27. inaccurate. Accordingly, programs may fail to operate due to 
  28. hardware/software interaction or programming decisions (sometimes 
  29. known as "bugs.")

  31. The Uncontaminated BBS will not willfully distribute viruses or
  32. other  malicious programs, and will report to proper authority
  33. users who  attempt to do so. If a user of this system believes
  34. that a file  which they obtained through this system is a virus or
  35. malicious  program, a private message to the SYSOP should be left
  36. as soon as  possible. If any program is proven to contain
  37. malicious code or a  virus, it will be deleted from the system.

  39. In consideration of the use of this system, all USERS ACKNOWLEDGE 
  40. THAT THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES AS TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR 
  41. A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR OTHER U.C.C. WARRANTY GIVEN AS TO FILES 
  42. AND USERS ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE SUCH STEPS AS THEY 
  43. DEEM NECESSARY TO PROTECT THEIR SYSTEMS.
